Photoshoot at The Rookery

A couple of weeks ago I had a photoshoot to get some new fresh photos of the Kokkino ranges. It was a beautiful day at The Rookery in Streatham Common, London, and the team were all such great fun and worked really hard. I’m saving the final finished photos for a while, but there are some snapshots of the day that give an idea of what we got up to!

The photographer I chose to work with was Oscar May – check out his website and find him on facebook, he’s a really talented guy and a pleasure to work with too.  Also in the team was the lovely Carmen Goetz as make-up artist and chief snapshot taker, and the model was the fabulous Rebecca Swinn.

Happily the sun co-operated with our plans and shone for us throughout the day, I even went home with slightly pink shoulders! I’m so pleased with the way the images have turned out, and we’ve already planned to get together and take a few more shots…but you’ll just have to wait a little longer to see them!!

Spring Gardening Show, Malvern

I’ve spent the day preparing for the Spring Gardening Show in Malvern where I’ll be exhibiting along with my fellow members of the Worcestershire Guild of Designer Craftsmen. The stand is all set, the jewellery is ready to go, so I hope to see plenty of people there!

Tickets for Thursday have to be pre-booked but you can buy them on the gate for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Fingers crossed for fair weather….

Repeat to fade…

A few shots of the more dramatic and playful pieces in the shimmer collection that I have been enjoying working on. The full collection will be available at madebyhandonline.com, and at some of the stockists throughout the land.

I’m really pleased to have been accepted to sell on the new

The quality of the handmade items for sale is really high and the site looks vibrant and bright and exciting. I knew it would be top notch as it was the brainchild of Sarah James (who organises the fantastic Contemporary Craft Fair in Devon and Made by Hand in Wales) and Katie Honnor.

So it really is worth a look for all sorts of items, from cute little ruby slipper badges by Alix Swan

to this beautiful tea table by Pascha design

and divine covertable jewellery by Suzanne Potter

Oh, and not forgetting Kokkino!

I think we all need a little treat, we’ve worked hard all year so far, right!

Goldsmiths’ Fair 2010

Well I am very excited to say that I’ve got my stand number and full confirmation that I’ll be showing at Goldsmiths’ Fair 2010!

It’s such a great opportunity and honour to be accepted, I can’t wait! I’ve been sketching out some new ideas, so there will be some very special one-off pieces for the show, so if you get the chance come along and soak up the glamour and history of the place. The building itself is beautiful, the show is inside an amazing gilded hall,  and there will be a wide variety of talented jewellers and silversmiths all with their own unique style.

Goldsmiths' Hall

I will be showing in Week Two which is Tuesday October 5th – Sunday October 10th – for full details of the event see the Goldsmiths’ Company website.

Hope to see you there. They serve champagne in the cafe – what more do you need to know!

..in the making

Just a few pictures of how the British Museum Jewellery Collection is made – I didn’t quite get all the stages but you can see some of the steps involved…

Rainbow Bracelet

I just thought I’d post a quick picture of this bracelet I did as a customer commission for a lady who particularly likes all things rainbow! Pretty!

Oakland, California

This fantastic looking gallery is Lireille Gallery of Contemporary Jewelry and Art in Oakland California. They’re a brand new stockist of Kokkino and I’m very pleased to say that they are selling very successfully! We’re soon to send over a whole new collection and I’m sure it will fly off the shelves too.

I just hope I can get over there one day to pay a visit to the gallery myself, there are so many interesting designers and artists stocked there. So if you’re in the area get over there and take a look -  one more reason on my ever growing list to visit California!

Are you talking about me…?

It’s always nice to get a compliment and I’ve just found Epages blog featuring kokkinoshop.co.uk used as inspiration  and commenting on how beautifully it’s designed.

To quote…

“The online shop of the British jeweler kokkino is all about precious silver and gold chains, bracelets and rings. To really showcase the products, kokkino selected an unostentatious design for the shop. Light, bright grey tones form a enclosing space with a large white area that gives the products room to breathe and make an optimal presentation. Large product images and an unadorned and open header underscore the exclusive offering of the jeweler. Colour accents for information texts and product descriptions are visually appealing and add to the exclusive feeling of the site without overpowering the high-resolution product photos. All-in-all, a harmonious and reduced design.”

It took many hours of hard work, so it’s great to be noticed! Thanks Epages!
